CDMA Modem And Wireless Internet

Atlast after almost a week of waiting I got my new ISP. The ISP provides services on wireless products only. Hence I choose the cheapest mobile phone over there and it is Nokia 2112 CDMA. The phone is light weight and has a flash light on top of it. No need of a torch any more. ;)

The thing that sucks is its USB connection. The coupled USB adapter is somewhat loose and sometime turns off the net.<_<

Besides that its a nice buy and I can now enjoy internet anywhere in India. :)

    Hi Vivek,

    BSNL EVDO modem costs Rs.3500+ tax on outright purchase or Rs.200 / month as rental. The EVDO plan allows unlimited download and costs only Rs.550 + tax / month. However, it should be noted that EVDO works by sharing bandwidth. This means, in big cities like Mumbai where you have multiple concurrent users, you won’t get the suggested speed of 2mbps, you may be getting around 0.5mbps – 1mpbs as average. Also, you cannot fully utilize the speed for downloading with torrent through EVDO. (the port has been blocked)

    In short, EVDO is only recommend for casual web browsing or downloading through private sites. Otherwise, it is a waste of time & money.

    Sir,

    I require a internet connection for my laptop like they have in Tata indicom. My friend took on from Tata Indicom It cost him around Rs3000.00 for connection and rental Rs. 750.00 monthly with unlimited usage per month and dounload of 5 GB please mail me your comparative rate for the same as well as the speed (average) of BSNL facilities.
