I myself have Creative Inspire T6060 so I know what you are talking about. However, did you check out Logitech Z5500. Monstrous in one word especially the bass. But if its music and the odd movie/game on the PC then I have found Audioengine A5 to be the best. Really great.

X-Fi cards have a THX setup console, where you can configure the distance between speakers and you.

Why on earth are you using PC speakers as your home cinema speakers? Well, they are THX, but only THX certified if you are 30cm – 1 meter apart from the speakers. You should at least use the THX – Select or Select 2 if you are going to build yourself a cinema. (Read info at the thx site)
